art journal junky

I've always been an avid journal writer but I wanted to try something more creative; keeping an art/visual journal.  We all need to eat, drink, and sleep everyday the basics carnal needs to survive but I am going to add keeping an art journal to the list - for me anyway.  I don't know why I didn't think of it before but now that I've started I'm addicted.  I was sitting at work one day trying to come up with ways to use my creative mind everyday without having to spend a lot of money or time, something that doesn't consume my room by the end of it like most of my art projects do.  That's when I decided to start a visual journal.  I have always sketched and doodled in my journals but now I'm taking it to the next level.  I have done a bunch of pages but I am still experimenting with different ways to portray my thoughts: collage, mixed media, transfers, and all sorts of mediums.  So far I'm happy with the results and it's nice to have something creative to look forward to when I have 30 minutes or so after work, or when I'm watching a movie.  It also helps with developing ideas for bigger projects I have in mind.  I love it that it's contained in a journal and that will be a fun little treat for my children and posterity to enjoy for years and years.  Here's just a sample of some pages I've done.  I'm going to try and blog with new pages every week or so.

I think it's important to keep a journal, it doesn't have to be a visual one but write down your story! Everyone has a story. Your experiences, your feelings, ideas, thoughts, and dreams all combine to form your life and your journey, which is your story. And a great way to keep a relative reflection of all those things that have happened in your life is to keep a journal. A daily journal, a weekly journal, a month end summary journal, any or all these are ways you can keep track and record your experiences.

I'M BACK

I know it's been awhile but I am ready to be a blogger again.  I have some great ideas of how to keep this blog somewhat interesting, I am also open to ideas...  Come back in a few days to see what I have in mind.
